The Ohio State Cosmetology and Barber Board (“Board”) has recently received information about a scam targeting our licensees. An individual will enter or call the salon or barber shop, claiming to be a Board Inspector and indicate that they are coming to complete an inspection. The individual then informs the salon or barber shop that they need to have money available to pay for the inspection. The Board does not charge for inspections, and Board inspectors will never ask a salon or barber shop for money. If you receive a call or experience an encounter like noted above, please inform the Board immediately.
